Acquires Apprio

Looking to establish a beachhead in Asia and Latin
America, Application Technologies Inc. (AppsTech), a
Bethesda information technology consulting company, said
today it will acquire Vienna systems integrator Apprio
Inc.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but AppsTech CEO
Rebecca Enonchong said the purchase price included cash
and future royalties.
Enonchong, who will keep her position in the combined
company, said the merger will not result in job losses.
"There will be no layoffs at all," she said.
"There is no duplication of responsibilities,"
between the two companies, which will have a combined
workforce of 60 employees.
Currently, there are no plans to shut down Apprio's Vienna
office, which has just five employees.
Enonchong, who is also the founder of the Africa
Technology Forum, a networking group of African technology
executives, said Apprio CEO Darryl Britt would remain with
the company, but his exact function was undetermined.
"We have not yet completely decided what his title
will be," said Enonchong.
Apprio is listed on the General Service Administration
schedule of government contractors. In addition to
Apprio's coveted government work, Enonchong said the
acquisition made sense because of Apprio's presence in
Asia and Latin America. "We don't have any experience
or exposure in those markets," she said. The company
is looking at opening a Latin America office, but
Enonchong didn't provide out a specific timeline for
expansion.
In addition to its Bethesda headquarters, AppsTech has
offices in the United Kingdom, Paris, Cameroon and Canada.
